Blessed to serve
Blessed to Serve is a ministry in our church to assist with minor home repair projects that improve the quality of life for those in our community. Projects may include painting, minor home repairs, raking or yard work, adding safety features, and more. Requests from elderly and low-income persons will be prioritized. community cares
Community CARES provides 24-hour emergency shelter, supportive services and resources to individuals and families experiencing homelessness throughout Cumberland County. In 2026, CUMC added Community CARES as a new serve partner, as an intentional way forward to build a stronger relationship with Community CARES and to show Christ's love to those they serve.
CUMC is starting a monthly meal program to offer to the clients who are staying at the Cove (the shelter facility on Spring Garden St). Volunteers will plan the menu, cook, and serve the meal. Part of this ministry will be offering hope and encouragement to the individuals at the shelter; listening to their stories and letting them know they are seen and loved.
We will also provide hygiene kits which will be assembled by folks of all ages after worship at the CARES pop-up table. From time to time, donations for items on the CARES needs list may be collected, including things like laundry detergent, trash bags, and paper towels.

Samaritan Fellowship - CUMC is open on Saturday mornings at the Community Groups entrance for Samaritan Fellowship. Consult the website, www.samaritanfellowship.org, for instructions, hours of operation, eligibility requirements, proof of identity, and required supporting documents.
refugees
CUMC has a long history of supporting refugees in Carlisle. Families are assisted with setting up their apartments, enrolling children in school, and registering for Sadler Health Clinic, Project Share, and English classes as needed. Cultural orientation is also important as they become acquainted with such things as buying groceries, using the library, and biking around town. Our team walks beside them for the first several months as they become accustomed to life in the US.

domestic violence services
In 2023 we began a new partnership with the Domestic Violence Services of Cumberland and Perry Counties to provide lunch monthly at client education days. Lunch is provided monthly for 20-30 adults and children. This team also provides Easter baskets for the kids and Mother's Day presents for moms receiving services. homeless to home
In partnership with New Life Community Church, Homeless to Home outreach provides basic personal care items and cleaning supplies for those moving from homelessness into a home. With funds received from a Cumberland County grant, CUMC aims to serve individuals and families with case managers making referrals through New Life Community Church's referral process or contacting New Life Community directly at 717.240.0060.
