In the story of Lazarus and the rich man, Jesus talks about loving our neighbors, wealth and poverty, heaven and hell, the walls we build (physical and social) that separate us from our neighbors. If we understand the story it should send us out to see everyone in need as our neighbor, to build bridges not walls, and to live generously.
